b alright i'm going to assume that the blocks with the pictures are the exact same pictures that i'm seeing
a i hope so
b should we should we should we first make sure that that's the that's the case
a well
b lamps lamps painting painting
a mm good so far
b records records and records
b okay
b now here's the situation and this is where the the negotiation in this
b case might be a little bit more difficult
b because um
b essentially this is worthless as we both know right i i'm assuming you got pretty much the same thing i did
a right
b these have some value but the real value i think lies here
a mhm
b in regards that we both probably have buyers for these three things
a right
b um
b now
b obviously they've created a situation where you've xxx where where where i mean the the the most fair way if you will
b to divide this up
b in in in in my opinion would be that
b one person would get the lamps period
b and a box of records
b the other person would get two boxes of records
b but
b in the in the in the situation here we've got crates of records eh one record
b could be more valuable than every single thing
a true
b on this entire table and we have no way of ascertaining that
b now we're looking at these records and we can see two beatles records
a mhm
b and a minutemen record
b now if that minutemen record
b as far as i know it's a that could be a very very rare s_s_t issue
a mhm
b uh in the eyes of the beholder that could be worth more money than the two beatles records
a sure
b again it is it depends upon who who your buyer is and who my buyer is
b so again we've got a whole bunch of variables here that we don't really
b know or we can't really ascertain so
b i
b again i i'm i'm kind of holding court here so eh i'm gonna suggest that one person probably gets the minutemen records
b or the the one the the the i guess the one we call the punk rock box
b the two lamps and the essentially worthless painting
b because while the painting is worthless you can always find some some rube to pay something for it
b where the other person should probably take the the two uh crates of beatles records but then again this is also very very how should we say um
b eh we don't know what's behind these beatles records we can't assume that both these crates contain nothing but beatles records anymore than we can assume that the center crate contains nothing but punk rock records
b uh you you see where i'm going with that
b so um i don't i don't know what kind of i what kind of assumptions do you carry forward in this
a well i agree with you with your assessment
a um i would say too though
a another thing we don't know about those records are is uh are they original releases are they original pressings or not which would kick up the value the value
b that's that's exactly that's exactly what i was saying though that's i'm saying about the minutemen record if this is an original s_s_t pressing it could be worth a ton of money
a sure
b um
a but the other thing i'm looking at too is the volume of records in each crate
a and then that becomes a numbers game
b okay
a so uh
b mhm
a i agree with you on the two beatles crates 'cause it looks like there's there are fewer albums but if in either of those crates they're all original issues then well you've essentially hit the jackpot
a but the minute man crate has more records in it
b mhm
a so i'm thinking you know you could have any number of things in there that would probably equal the value of those other two crates
b sure unless those two beatles records are original original apple releases where upon they would completely supercede pretty much everything in that minutemen crate again we're we're just going xxx
b uh of course they've created this this situation 'cause what they're trying to do is trying to gauge a sense of of of trust and fairness between us
a sure
b um
b so but then again basically you're kind of coming to the same
b um decision that i am whereas whereas the two the two beatles
a the only thing i would disagree about though is the two lamps
b how do you how do you disagree about
a i think the lamps should be divided
b you sure the lamps should be divided
a 'cause 'cause 'cause i'm looking at this as this is door number three
b okay so you're seeing you're seeing this you're seeing is this is equal to this
a this is a this is these are the items we know the least about
a i'm saying that it could be it could conceivably be
b because based upon what i'm seeing based upon the the the the
b again it's of course completely false
b uh way of looking at it would be that or not necessarily completely false but you're you're getting an assumption that it's a crate of punk rock records
b may or may not be
a i didn't make that assumption but but i see where you would make that assumption
b no you didn't
b given the given the x x x on the uh on the box and uh yeah that's that's where i'm getting that from
b whereas this seems to be uh somebody who collected records in the sixties
a mhm
b but then again this is all coming from the same supposed storage locker
a right
b so i see where you're coming from with the lamps which means now that we need to gauge which one of these lamps is more valuable
b now i'm gonna go say that this one's more valuable
a and i could honestly go either way
b you you disagree you disagree you don't think
a i i see i see your point but
a what we know about those lamps is they're both essentially from the same era
b yeah
a and they're both in remarkably good shape
b mhm
a so either one of them would fetch a price conceivably
a comparable to the other lamp
a that's the way i'm looking at it i see this if you split this either way whoever gets either lamp you're probably gonna come out reselling it and getting about the same as the other person just talking about the lamps
b i i have a little bit of experience in this sort of thing and i'm gonna say that the lamp with the with the two lamps is gonna be not significantly more valuable but it is gonna be more valuable
b although however there is something there is something that goes toward your argument um if you look at the the the reason that these lamps are very expensive is usually 'cause of the glassware
a mhm exactly
b and the glassware on this is far more detailed than the glassware on that so that could that could even these lamps out
a mhm
b so so essentially um what we've got here then is is you wanna split the lamps
a mhm
b right you wanna find a way to split the records and this
b
b really can be given to whoever feels that they might be slightly shortchanged shortchanged in that
a that's exactly what i was thinking right so so whichever choice of the crates you get if you know that's if that's feeling more iffy then
b so so so so
b yeah exactly and it also has to do with your personality what you think you can sell
a true true
b ya know
a yeah
b eh it has it has it has a lot to do with that
b so one of us eh can can we can we just make the agreement right now that one of us is getting one lamp
a okay
b one of us is getting one of these sets of records or
a okay
b do we wanna do that
b and someone gets both lamps or that
b and someone gets both lamps
a i still feel this tickle in my brain that's telling me this is more records
b yes
a so it it becomes a grab bag at that point and i think that
b but
b but more records doesn't necessarily mean more records can be twenty five cents of records
a that's true it becomes a gamble at that point
b most and i will say most of the time
b having i will tell you that
a mhm
b ninety eight percent of my xxx vinyl is essentially worthless
a worthless
b eh most yes and i have a couple things that are worth a ton of money
b but most of it is worthless so i'll be uh uh based upon that rationality of of of of the gamble if you will this is a very bad gamble as far as i'm concerned
b even that minutemen records in in front as a as an s_s_t original you could get twenty bucks for that at beaker bleaker blah bleaker blobs xxx bleaker bobs
a but according to the information according to the information we had though
a even one of these crates conceivably is going to
a be comparable to to whatever you're doing over here
b e but we can see physically that we could have two beatles original apple
b pressings there which are both gonna pull probably upwards of a hundred or so each
b so again it's a gamble
a well the other option too is is to just let them auction off the bin
a and and and see how we how it all shakes out
b and we'd
b or the option was to i thought we had to engage
a no one of the we do have to do you know negotiate but if we can't
b mhm mhm
b if we can't if we can't come up with an agreement we we can back out
a come up with something
a well not back out necessarily what happens then is then the owner puts the the uh bin up for auction and then we'd both then just kind of take our chances and bid on whatever we want
b mhm
b yeah i guess i guess i i guess what what they're trying to do also is they're trying to get us to assume these characters so perhaps we're not supposed to act like ourselves
a that was my understanding mhm
b but we're supposed to act like this guy who owns a a a a a a a antique shop in riverside
a mhm
b then the that's why i'm i'm trying to figure out how how i would act i i guess what we're what we should
b in my in my opinion we need to figure out a way that that both of us feel that we've been fairly compensated
b or do you just not or you just you just wanna back out
a well let me ask you what's your proposal what's your what's your initial proposal
b well i i i told you i said i said eh either either we either
b someone gets one box of records and two lamps the other person gets two boxes of records and perhaps the worthless painting
b but nah xxx
a but then there's a question of which boxes of records
b which boxes of records and like i said now i know i i will i will just assume that these two beatles records are are apple originals
a mhm
b looking at this box alls i know is that there's a minutemen record here is at worth at most twenty bucks
a mhm
b depending upon what kinda condition it's in
b eh looks to be in relatively good condition
a and then there's that that peaches label on the on the the crate there i wonder if that's a subtle hint maybe
b that the crate that the crate is worth money
a or or that those records are worth money like that's the crate you want this is the cream of the crop
a
b because it says peaches on it
b it says peaches but look it's not an actual it's not an original agricultural box it's a box with a label with with a record on it
a oh yeah that's true
b that's interesting
b so what are they trying to do there psychologically
b hmm interesting and this is just your standard old milk crate
a it's a good question
a with about the same amount of records give or take as this one has
b yeah although these to be honest with you look pretty battered too
a yeah
a we didn't even talk about that the condition
b yeah these don't look like they're in the best condition
b these look like they're in reasonable condition these look fair but these look pretty beat up
a mhm
b so
a so what do you propose as far as divvying up the records then
a the same
b um
a i think you originally said these two or this one
b yeah 'cause i thought well i thought this would've been
b this would've been the the the more fair exchange
b but you're you're making an excellent point
b uh because uh again it's a gamble we don't know what's behind here we don't know what's behind here
b i mean i mean for instance here here's something else that i need to bring forward if this person has two crates
a mhm
b with beatles in front of both crates
b that's lending me to to that's giving me the understanding this person's unorganized
a or those are all the beatles
b or they're nothing but beatles records
a yeah yeah exactly
b but if they're nothing but beatles records then why aren't they just in one crate because there's more than enough room in each crate to hold all those beatles records
a that's a good point
b you wouldn't've split them up like that
a i wouldn't've no
b you would've put anybody would've you would've put all your beatles records in either the milk crate or the peaches box
a mhm
b so based upon that
b i'm thinking that this person's just and based upon the condition of these
b i'm inferring that this person's rather unorganized and i cannot assume that everything behind there is beatles
b much of the same way i can't xxx assume that everything behind here is is just minutemen either
b so you're getting volume here
b you're getting about the same volume here
a mhm
b in terms of records
b but you know again it's the gamble
b and what you feel comfortable with there's also there's also this option this where we go
b um where we do something like maybe
b so now one of us gets a beatle what we think is here's the thing here's what we know
b k we know that the that we can we can assume that each one of these at least one of these beatles records is worth a lot of money
a mhm
b k
b so the that makes the rest of everything essentially a grab bag
b or we do a which was my original we do two lamps
b um no no hang on
