b	alright i'm going to assume that the blocks with the pictures are the exact same pictures that i'm seeing
a	on this one on both of them
b	should we should we should we first make sure that that's the that's the case
a	well they're uh they're they're
a	somewhat common but they're in great shape
a	so based on their condition you you'd
b	lamps lamps painting painting
a	yes
b	records records and records
b	okay
b	now here's the situation and this is where the the negotiation in this
b	case might be a little bit more difficult
b	because um
b	essentially this is worthless as we both know right i i'm assuming you got pretty much the same thing i did
a	but then again this is all coming from the same supposed storage locker
b	these have some value but the real value i think lies here
a	go with the painting
b	in regards that we both probably have buyers for these three things
a	take two each and then we'll uh split the other two and go fifty fifty on whatever you come out with the
a	you know if you make fifty cents we'll a quarter each
b	um
b	now
b	obviously they've created a situation where you've xxx where where where i mean the the the most fair way if you will
b	to divide this up
b	in in in in my opinion would be that
b	one person would get the lamps period
b	and a box of records
b	the other person would get two boxes of records
b	but
b	in the in the in the situation here we've got crates of records eh one record
b	could be more valuable than every single thing
a	so alright sounds good alright
b	on this entire table and we have no way of ascertaining that
b	now we're looking at these records and we can see two beatles records
a	this one here
b	and a minutemen record
b	now if that minutemen record
b	as far as i know it's a that could be a very very rare s_s_t issue
a	uh huh
b	uh in the eyes of the beholder that could be worth more money than the two beatles records
a
b	again it is it depends upon who who your buyer is and who my buyer is
b	so again we've got a whole bunch of variables here that we don't really
b	know or we can't really ascertain so
b	i
b	again i i'm i'm kind of holding court here so eh i'm gonna suggest that one person probably gets the minutemen records
b	or the the one the the the i guess the one we call the punk rock box
b	the two lamps and the essentially worthless painting
b	because while the painting is worthless you can always find some some rube to pay something for it
b	where the other person should probably take the the two uh crates of beatles records but then again this is also very very how should we say um
b	eh we don't know what's behind these beatles records we can't assume that both these crates contain nothing but beatles records anymore than we can assume that the center crate contains nothing but punk rock records
b	uh you you see where i'm going with that
b	so um i don't i don't know what kind of i what kind of assumptions do you carry forward in this
a	and and it's it's it's about having the knowledge having the knowledge of what you're looking at and the value of it
b	that's that's exactly that's exactly what i was saying though that's i'm saying about the minutemen record if this is an original s_s_t pressing it could be worth a ton of money
a	yeah well
b	um
a	yeah
b	okay
a	i know that uh the antiques that you
b	mhm
a	hmm
b	mhm
a	and split the profit down fifty fifty
a	or do you think you'd make more money that way
b	sure unless those two beatles records are original original apple releases where upon they would completely supercede pretty much everything in that minutemen crate again we're we're just going xxx
b	uh of course they've created this this situation 'cause what they're trying to do is trying to gauge a sense of of of trust and fairness between us
a	this is a this is these are the items we know the least about
a	i'm saying that it could be it could conceivably be
b	um
b	so but then again basically you're kind of coming to the same
b	um decision that i am whereas whereas the two the two beatles
a	the records what do you think
b	how do you how do you disagree about
a
b	you sure the lamps should be divided
a	and then i can go ahead and take um
b	okay so you're seeing you're seeing this you're seeing is this is equal to this
a	i'm doing pretty good how's how's business for you
b	because based upon what i'm seeing based upon the the the the
b	again it's of course completely false
b	uh way of looking at it would be that or not necessarily completely false but you're you're getting an assumption that it's a crate of punk rock records
b	may or may not be
a	so what are we gonna do with that i don't know
a	do you want it you don't want that how do you feel about this you don't want it at all
b	no you didn't
b	given the given the x x x on the uh on the box and uh yeah that's that's where i'm getting that from
b	whereas this seems to be uh somebody who collected records in the sixties
a	whereas 'cause we have a good backlog on the lamps at our store
a	as well is the same with the painting i have all my wall space in my thirty thousand foot
a	warehouse is pretty full but
b	but then again this is all coming from the same supposed storage locker
a	and i assume we can't split one and one and a half so
b	so i see where you're coming from with the lamps which means now that we need to gauge which one of these lamps is more valuable
b	now i'm gonna go say that this one's more valuable
a	a very very expensive value i should say none the least
a	um
b	you you disagree you disagree you don't think
a	he's got a warehouse
a	he put up a prefab barn behind his house
b	yeah
a	oh i'm alex
b	mhm
a
a	that was easy enough
b	i i have a little bit of experience in this sort of thing and i'm gonna say that the lamp with the with the two lamps is gonna be not significantly more valuable but it is gonna be more valuable
b	although however there is something there is something that goes toward your argument um if you look at the the the reason that these lamps are very expensive is usually 'cause of the glassware
a	mhm
b	and the glassware on this is far more detailed than the glassware on that so that could that could even these lamps out
a	okay
a	i'll take the records and one lamp is that equal
a	no it's only six
b	so so essentially um what we've got here then is is you wanna split the lamps
a	i hope they let us but i don't think they will i mean normally in real life i think we would
b	right you wanna find a way to split the records and this
b
b	really can be given to whoever feels that they might be slightly shortchanged shortchanged in that
a	well i mean it's just whatever your priority
a	see what your priority is uh for what you're selling with your store might not be the same as mine
a	so
b	so so so so
b	yeah exactly and it also has to do with your personality what you think you can sell
a	okay
a	yeah
b	ya know
a	eh
a	ee you know i i'm i'm i i got a pretty good idea but first of all my name's sam and i don't know if we met before but it's good to meet you i'm from sam's consignment shop how are ya
a	alex
b	eh it has it has it has a lot to do with that
b	so one of us eh can can we can we just make the agreement right now that one of us is getting one lamp
a	you being an antiques dealer well
b	one of us is getting one of these sets of records or
a	yeah well i i have to be honest with you i'm not really a negotiator but i figured well the best first thing that can happen is we we whatever the the
a	the value of it
b	do we wanna do that
b	and someone gets both lamps or that
b	and someone gets both lamps
a	so you're gonna give me the garbage you're gonna give me the garbage in other words
b	yes
a	i don't want that
b	but
b	but more records doesn't necessarily mean more records can be twenty five cents of records
a	i didn't even see that on there
a	i just thought it was a peach crate and then i looked again i go oh okay
b	most and i will say most of the time
b	having i will tell you that
a	and uh to me
a	there's a certain point where i figure
a	enough's enough and
a	i guess not knowing you
a	uh as well as i know myself
a	you gotta make that decision for your for yourself
a	so um depending on where the bidding's at
b	ninety eight percent of my xxx vinyl is essentially worthless
a
b	eh most yes and i have a couple things that are worth a ton of money
b	but most of it is worthless so i'll be uh uh based upon that rationality of of of of the gamble if you will this is a very bad gamble as far as i'm concerned
b	even that minutemen records in in front as a as an s_s_t original you could get twenty bucks for that at beaker bleaker blah bleaker blobs xxx bleaker bobs
a	hey one of these lamps would look good on my desk too
b	e but we can see physically that we could have two beatles original apple
b	pressings there which are both gonna pull probably upwards of a hundred or so each
b	so again it's a gamble
a	the painting
b	and we'd
b	or the option was to i thought we had to engage
a	because based upon what i'm seeing based upon the the the the
a	again it's of course completely false
a	uh way of looking at it would be that or not necessarily completely false but you're you're getting an assumption that it's a crate of punk rock records
a	may or may not be
b	mhm mhm
b	if we can't if we can't come up with an agreement we we can back out
a	it's heads okay then you have one
a	and
a	i said i'd take this do you want to split the remainder
b	mhm
b	yeah i guess i guess i i guess what what they're trying to do also is they're trying to get us to assume these characters so perhaps we're not supposed to act like ourselves
a	okay i xxx everything is in this one locker right
a	all the items is in this one locker
b	but we're supposed to act like this guy who owns a a a a a a a antique shop in riverside
a	i'll go with this one
b	then the that's why i'm i'm trying to figure out how how i would act i i guess what we're what we should
b	in my in my opinion we need to figure out a way that that both of us feel that we've been fairly compensated
b	or do you just not or you just you just wanna back out
a	so uh if you're willing to negotiate with me at least and uh allow me the beatles i'll willing to give you the lamp that you wish and at least one of the record sets
b	well i i i told you i said i said eh either either we either
b	someone gets one box of records and two lamps the other person gets two boxes of records and perhaps the worthless painting
b	but nah xxx
a	yeah
b	which boxes of records and like i said now i know i i will i will just assume that these two beatles records are are apple originals
a	are you keeping the records or
b	looking at this box alls i know is that there's a minutemen record here is at worth at most twenty bucks
a	all right hey uh
a	uh i uh need uh one of them lamps
a	and i'll give you two crates of uh records for one of them lamps
b	depending upon what kinda condition it's in
b	eh looks to be in relatively good condition
a	yeah i guess yeah
b	that the crate that the crate is worth money
a	um
a	i'm gonna tell you what how about i take the two lamps and one crate of albums
b	because it says peaches on it
b	it says peaches but look it's not an actual it's not an original agricultural box it's a box with a label with with a record on it
a
b	that's interesting
b	so what are they trying to do there psychologically
b	hmm interesting and this is just your standard old milk crate
a	right
b	yeah although these to be honest with you look pretty battered too
a	i could have customers for them
a	um because i i
a	i
a	my customers care i have you know cover a a wide range
a	of of interests
a	and i can call people and then let them know about things um
b	yeah these don't look like they're in the best condition
b	these look like they're in reasonable condition these look fair but these look pretty beat up
a	this thing's coming off my ear
b	so
a	and of course the painting is in excellent condition
b	um
a	oh you are because you wanted all three but there's still one crate left
b	yeah 'cause i thought well i thought this would've been
b	this would've been the the the more fair exchange
b	but you're you're making an excellent point
b	uh because uh again it's a gamble we don't know what's behind here we don't know what's behind here
b	i mean i mean for instance here here's something else that i need to bring forward if this person has two crates
a	then you you might have something that i really want in there
b	with beatles in front of both crates
b	that's lending me to to that's giving me the understanding this person's unorganized
a	right mhm
b	or they're nothing but beatles records
a	you know what screw it i'll i'll do this
b	but if they're nothing but beatles records then why aren't they just in one crate because there's more than enough room in each crate to hold all those beatles records
a	wow i i hear you can make a lot of money off of some things
b	you wouldn't've split them up like that
a	alright now
b	you would've put anybody would've you would've put all your beatles records in either the milk crate or the peaches box
a	get get get the uh storage locker
b	so based upon that
b	i'm thinking that this person's just and based upon the condition of these
b	i'm inferring that this person's rather unorganized and i cannot assume that everything behind there is beatles
b	much of the same way i can't xxx assume that everything behind here is is just minutemen either
b	so you're getting volume here
b	you're getting about the same volume here
a	oh we do know each other from the past
a	we've crossed paths okay
b	in terms of records
b	but you know again it's the gamble
b	and what you feel comfortable with there's also there's also this option this where we go
b	um where we do something like maybe
b	so now one of us gets a beatle what we think is here's the thing here's what we know
b	k we know that the that we can we can assume that each one of these at least one of these beatles records is worth a lot of money
a	sounds good
b	k
b	so the that makes the rest of everything essentially a grab bag
b	or we do a which was my original we do two lamps
b	um no no hang on
